Avila Consulting Engineers, LLC is a premium structural and forensic engineering firm based in Doral, Florida. Under the leadership of Gilberto A. Avila — a licensed Professional Engineer holding credentials in 18+ states — the firm delivers rigorous expert witness services, forensic investigations, structural design, and specialty inspections to insurance carriers, law firms, HOAs, developers, and homeowners.

Mr. Avila is a graduate of the University of Miami with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Avila’s background includes responsibility for the design, detailing and construction administration functions of various building projects as a structural engineer consultant. He has extensive experience with commercial, residential, institutional, and hospitality design projects. Additionally, Mr. Avila has experience with field investigation work regarding code compliance issues, building recertification, as well as assessment of building damages and losses due to weather conditions, construction or design defects, and foundation settlement. Mr. Avila is a licensed professional engineer in multiple states as well as a special inspector, a board-recognized structural engineer, and a certified general contractor in the state of Florida.

As Principal Engineer of Avila Consulting Engineers, Mr. Avila’s responsibilities include perform forensic evaluations of structural related failures to residential and commercial structures. Responsibilities primarily involve the following: Inspection of foundation and structural framing systems of the building; inspection of roofing, flooring, and building envelope damage (exterior wall finishes, windows, glazing systems); Inspection of waterproofing details, construction materials, storm damage, water infiltration damage, water damage from plumbing leak sources, vibration damage analysis, construction methods and contract performance disputes; Investigation of building code compliance issues; Determination of cause and origin of these respective damages and issue reports to the clients with the findings obtained from the investigation and analysis of the project. Provide scope of repairs and pricing evaluations of reported damages and estimates.

Mr. Avila is also trained as a residential roof inspector to assess damage to all major types of residential and commercial roof coverings, including wind and hail, and can evaluate installation, weathering, maintenance, mechanical damages and replacement costs of roof coverings.

Mr. Avila has been designated as an expert witness and has provided expert witness testimony at depositions and trials. Mr. Avila has been a speaker at conferences in front of other engineers, attorneys, and adjusters.
